St. Simons Island
King and Prince ResortWith the 90 degree heat, jet lag, low energy levels and most of all the fact that we should not HAVE to learn anything in the summer, somehow our car ended up on St. Simons Island instead of Yoknapatawpha County, Mississippi!
We spent the day lounging by the pool listening to the crashing waves (after getting up at 5:00 A.M.)
We spent the day lounging by the pool listening to the crashing waves (after getting up at 5:00 A.M.)
We had a stack of books and magazines that we could not concentrate on because every 10 minutes we were up to either get in the pool to cool off or to beckon the waitress from the pool's snack bar. ( We ran up quite a tab.) When we finally got back in to our room, we were amazed to see that we had been out less than 2 hours!!
The tables still have holes in the middle to throw your scraps! After our hair dryers and straighteners blew a fuse in our room, we peeled ourselves off the couch to leave and go eat. We drove a short distance to the Crab Trap restaurant. We had eaten here more than 15 years ago on another trip and were anxious to return. It had not changed, nasty french fries and all. The scallops, shrimp, and crab soup were delicious, but looking at what we left behind we realized we should have shared a meal. We PROMISED each other we would indeed do that tomorrow.
We decided we would jointly write a blog post for the first day of our trip since we were constantly reminded today that we are practically the same person. Here are a few examples from the last 48 hours.
Episode 1: Yesterday at McKay's books, I (Sheila) picked up a book by Lee Stroebel and I asked Sarah who he was. We both recognized the name, but could not place him. Out of the blue, the granola girl next to us condescendingly said" Oh, he is an apologist!" We both looked at each other, unsuccessfully stiffling our giggles, and simultaneously ran around the corner and said at the exact same time " What the heck is that??!!"
Episode 2: While riding in the car I (Sheila) mentioned to Sarah that one of the songs from worship Sunday had a lyric that spoke to me. Before I could even tell her which one, she told me first what it was. Out of 5 songs, she was able to pinpoint the one line I was thinking of. The line is from Hillsong's "Hosanna." It is in a powerful part of the bridge where Kim so beautifully sang" Break my heart for what breaks Yours." Now I understand why images of injustice on television get to me....because they break His heart also.
Episode 3: On a lighter note, after ordering our sandwiches at Subway, (Sheila a club, Sarah an Italian BMT) we looked at each other at the same moment and asked, "What does B...M...T stand for anyway when the ingredients are Ham, Pepperoni and Salami??!! Any light that can be shed on this pressing matter would be greatly appreciated!
Sheila and Sarah
(If there are grammatical errors, don't blame me.....I lost my proofreader about halfway through the post. So technically it is 1/4th Sarah's and 3/4ths mine!)

found this on google:
This sub's name is the "Biggest, Meatiest, Tastiest":
Subway B.M.T. foot-long on roasted garlic bread. The "B.M.T." sandwich at Subway was originally named after the "Brooklyn-Manhattan Transit." Consisting of sliced genoa salami, pepperoni, ham and your choice of salad, it has become one of the chain's most popular subs.
With time, the sub's name has evolved to mean "Biggest, Meatiest, Tastiest."
A six-inch sub has 24g of fat, 55mg of cholesterol, and 1900mg of sodium
Thanks for that nutritional info. I'm afraid I will never be able to enjoy that sandwich again!
Sorry! Didn't mean to ruin it!
