My Turn

Just to warn you, I'm feeling something of a novel coming in this post. So many things have happened in the last few days that I want to remember forever, and this is my place to document it all. Thanks for following along.

Possibly one of the best moments of the day was reading this in my devotional, Jesus Calling: "I have prepared this day for you with the most tender concern and attention to detail...[Be] on the lookout for all that I am doing. This sounds easy, but it requires a deep level of trust, based on the knowledge that My way is perfect." The first part was great, but the last part kind of made me feel like something was going to go wrong that would require me to trust in His way. Is that some messed up thinking or what? I totally justified my worry through my daily devotional. Anyway, every detail of the day did seem just perfect.

After Andrew and I sat in the waiting room in stressful silence for about 20 minutes, they finally called us back to see this.

And every bit of worry washed away.

We were delighted to see her in 3D. We never expected to fall so in love with her in these few minutes.

This one sealed the deal. Can you believe she is sucking her thumb?

Though her little spine looks skinny, she is in the 83rd percentile weighing in at 13 ounces.

We were so glad to share this special day with the grandmas and Uncle Mattie.

They were pretty excited to be there, too. Even though this is Nana's sixth, it was her first ultrasound.

True to form, Mom had a boy gift and girl gift waiting for us in the car when we walked out of the doctor's office. Just one of those perfectly prepared details.

I really never expected to fall more in love with my husband in the doctor's office.

But I sure did. I completely adore this man.

Here are a few reasons I have fallen more in love with him in the last 24 hours:
  • His first question to ever ask the doctor was, "When can I feel the baby move?"
  • He spent hours blogging about our day.
  • He sent me a text suggesting that Charlotte wear a grape costume for Halloween like I did as a child.
  • He's already wondering what she will be when she grows up.
  • He already worried that she might move away.
  • He has admitted he doesn't stand a chance with a baby girl.
  • When I asked if he wanted to go to Old Navy tomorrow to shop for her, he said, "That would be a blast!" And there wasn't even a hint of sarcasm. He really is excited about it.
Mom and I did our best to be bargain shoppers waiting in line for an hour at Duck Duck Goose. Once we walked in the store, we realized most of the big items (cribs, strollers, etc.) in good condition were already sold. We walked around for about ten minutes, then realized the check out line was about two hours long, so we hightailed it to the mall. Baby Gap more specifically. We acted like two giddy little girls in there looking at all the adorable clothes. Mom got her the cutest yellow dress for her first Sunday at church. Surprisingly, I didn't spend a penny yesterday. I picked up tons of things, but I think I'm just overwhelmed at all the things we will need that I'm scared to spend any money yet. It's coming though. We've got a trip to Atlanta planned in a few weeks.

Somehow in all my nervousness, I failed to recognize that this would be one of the most exciting days of my life.

We're looking forward to the next most exciting day of our lives. We can't wait to meet our precious little Charlotte.

I can't decide which blog was the bigger tear-jerker --Mom's or Dad's. I hope the weather didn't spoil your Old Navy trip.
